Day 7 – Puerto Vallarta

Adrian and I didn’t see much of Puerto Vallarta! We docked in the morning, and headed to shore around 8:30 or so to meet up for our Shore Excursion (9am meeting time).

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

The port had interesting artists producing different works while we waited. There was one particular gentleman, perhaps around 50?, who was making amazing painted scenes on tile, using nothing but his fingers and fingernails! Like a Mexican beach at sunset with dolphins, clouds, palm trees, etc. I fully intended to get one, but after the dolphin encounter, I totally forgot about it.

There was a large bird cage with two parrots in it at the port that we sat near, and I took a few pictures of the birds. Shortly after, a woman came around with a parrot that she would put on your shoulder and have kiss you (so you could get pictures) for a ‘donation’. Both Adrian and I had our pictures taken, because, come on! It was cool. :D

Around 9-9:30 we headed to a boat to be taken over to the dolphin center. Apparently there were too many of us to send by bus. Shortly after we arrived there was a presentation on dolphins (neat facts! i.e. Dolphins can’t breathe through their mouths, only through their blowholes!), then got in the water with them and got to pet them, they gave us a kiss, we kissed them, and then they took us for a ride around the pool. We got out then, and I got to take pictures of the dolphins jumping around. They also brought out a sea lion, and we were able to have pictures taken with him (her?) too. Then there was lunch (tasty chicken, nachos, etc.) provided, and we bought some t-shirts and pictures of us with the dolphins (cameras were prohibited while we were in the water, :( ).

By the way, swimming with dolphins, is FREAKING AWESOME!!!
